Stephan Mwende Mulwa, a first-time mother, is mourning the death of her three-month-old only child at the hands of her house girl.
Mwende stated that she has only been with the house girl for a month.
Mwende described how she left the house in the morning for work and returned to the house
at 1 p.m. as part of her daily routine, where she found the house girl and the baby sleeping and they both woke up when she called out to her.
She described how she had left the nanny to bottle the baby.
Mwende then went to Kahawa Wendani to purchase brooms for her workplace. She ran into her baby's nanny on her way back from the store, and from the looks of things, she knew her son was no longer alive.
The Nanny was holding the child, who was unable to speak. "From his head, hands, and feet, the kid appeared lifeless," she said.
Her landlord drove them to Emory Hospital, where doctors quickly took the child and confirmed that baby Kimachui had died.
The house girl was arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.
A postmortem examination at Kenyatta University Funeral Home revealed that baby Kimachui had not been burped after being bottled by the nanny, causing the milk to enter the lungs.
Mwende is asking for donations to help her pay for the postmortem and burial, which will take place on Wednesday, February 15.
All monetary contributions should be directed to her phone number, 0706397126
