Kirinyaga County police are looking into a case in which a woman was brutally murdered with her eyes gouged out in Piai hamlet, Kirinyaga.
According to eyewitnesses, the mysterious intruders also cuffed one of the deceased's hands after her body was burnt with acidic chemicals.
Neighbours had raised concern over her disappearance, forcing the family to conduct an extensive search for her.
On Thursday morning, however, they were horrified to discover that she had been murdered and dumped in a run-down home close to a cemetery in Embu Countryside.
"We want to know why this horrific atrocity was committed," a resident, Pastor Boniface Mwangi said.
Ms. Nancy Wambui, a member of the Nyumba Kumi Initiative, expressed dismay that the woman had been brutally murdered. “When I learned that a woman had been discovered dead, I was at home. When I arrived at the scene right away, I was horrified to see the woman's brutally dismembered body laying lifeless, "Ms Wambui recounted.
The killers "acted like wolves, and they should be found and punished in accordance with the rule of law," said local Pastor Musa Maina.
They lamented about the rise of insecurity incidents in the neighbourhood and urged authorities to increase night time patrols.
According to police reports , investigations into the brutal murder have been launched.
