Meru County Assembly Deputy Speaker Mwenda Ali suffered severe injuries when his vehicle caught fire following a head-on collision with another Toyota double cabin along Meru-Embu Road at Kivwe village.

Embu County Police Commander Nicholas Maina confirmed the incident, revealing that Ali was travelling to Nairobi with his two young daughters when the tragedy occurred on Tuesday, April 2nd.

Sadly, one of the girls perished at the scene, while Ali, his two-year-old daughter, and the driver sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Ena Hospital in Meru.

Ali complained of chest pains, sustained deep cuts on the forehead, and dislocated his left knee.

Their conditions deteriorated, necessitating immediate airlifting to Nairobi for specialized treatment. Maina stated, "It was a fatal accident, but the deputy speaker survived and was flown to Nairobi together with other survivors from his car. We have initiated investigations to determine the cause of the accident."
