Meet a 2022 KCSE Student Who Saves a Ksh.100 Daily for His University Studies

The dream of Anthony Omondi Wambui, of Joining the institution of higher learning now hangs in the balance after he was faced with the harsh reality that he could not raise money to join University. Omondi attempts to make ends meet have now resorted to Jua Kali Jobs in In order to fulfill his dream of furthering his education.

Omondi scored a mean grade of A- with 75 points in the recently released 2022 KCSE results.

Omondi who attended Langalanga Secondary School in Nakuru County, aspires to study aeronautical engineering.

"I hope to join university so that I may uplift my family. I also believe that one day I will be in a position to help other needy persons," he said.

Omondi’s mother seeks assistance from well-wishers in order to help her son, who did well on the national exam.

"I'm pleading with anyone who can help to assist my son get admission in the university since I no longer work as I used to do," Anthony Omondi's mother said.

The 19-year-old boy's daily take-home pay from his Jua Kali work is Ksh. 500. He gives her mother 400 Kenyan shillings to buy food.

Anthony Omondi is now the family's sole source of income since her mother stopped working some time back.

Education CS Ezekiel Machogu announced the 2022 KCSE results on Friday, January 20, 2023.

A total of 881,416 candidates took the exam, including 443,644 boys and 437,772 girls, according to CS Machogu.

According to Machogu, 173,345 candidates received the required C+ mark for admittance into a university (plus). There was an increase from the 145,776 who took the KCSE exam in the year 2021.

In total, 1,146 pupils received an A (plain), or between 81 and 84 points, on the national exam.
