Former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has signed two years contract with an option of one extension for the new Chelsea manager.

Mauricio is expected to take his managerial role from Frank Lampard who was holding office on interim at the London-based club.

Mauricio who has been away from coaching after being sacked by France giants Paris St Germain has agreed on a two-year contract.  The 51-year-old Argentine becomes the fourth manager under Todd Boehly`s new administration.

Chelsea has had a rough season finishing 12th with 44 points in The English Premiere League. With the Blues being on the verge of losing a number of players, Pochettino is expected to convince them to stay in the club as the pre-season is set to kick off.

According to Todd Boehly`s administration, the appointment of the former Tottenham Boss was conducted with diligence, and a thoughtful process was involved by the board.

“The sporting team conducted a diligent and thoughtful process that the board is proud of. We are delighted that Mauricio will be joining Chelsea. Mauricio is a world–class coach with an outstanding track record. We are all looking forward to having him on board.” Statement from Chelsea owners.

Co-sporting directors praised Pochettino`s tactics and His ethos has made him an exceptional candidate.

“Mauricio`s experienced, standards of excellence, leadership qualities and character will serve Chelsea Football Club as we move forward. He is a winning coach, who has worked at the highest levels, in multiple leagues.

His ethos, tactical approach, and commitment to development all made him the exceptional candidate”. Chelsea`s Co- sporting directors.

Chelsea spent a whopping 600 million euros on players and they needed a manager who could adequately manage players and the investment.

Pochettino was sacked by Tottenham in November 2019 after spending five years at the London-based club. He led Tottenham to finish in the top four as well as reaching finals in the UEFA Champions League.

He was sacked after Spurs lost 2-0 to Liverpool at Estadio Metrapolitano in Madrid Spain.
