Matiang'i to Appear Before the DCI for Grilling Moments After Jetting Back in the Country
Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i jets back to the country from a two-week trip to the United Kingdom.
This comes prior to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) summon set to occur on Monday, March 5th at DCI headquarters based along Kiambu Road.
Matiang’i is expected to record a statement on an alleged police raid at his Karen home on February 8th 2023.
The former CS is said to have flown to the UK to attend to private family matters and not to evade DCI summons as it was presumed.
A previous statement released by Matiangi’s lawyer Danstan Omari indicated that Matiang’i will willingly present himself for questioning on the alleged police raid.
Earlier, the Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua challenged the former CS to honor the DCI summons saying, “He was called to record a simple statement but he decided to flee. Didn't I tell you that these people were cowards?”
Matiang'i was recently ordered to appear at DCI headquarters by Senior Superintendent of Police Michael Sang on the basis that he might have disseminated incorrect information on the supposed police raid a fortnight ago.
