Everton entered the Premier League relegation zone this week after suffering a humbling 4-1 home loss to Brighton, and they went to Old Trafford in fear.

Although they got off to the worst possible start with a goal from Brazilian striker Antony in the fourth minute, they managed to draw even ten minutes later when Conor Coady capitalized on a mistake by United goalkeeper David de Gea.

To give the advantage back to the home team, the Everton defender put the ball in his own net early in the second half.

In the last seconds of the game, Rashford extended United's lead by scoring from the penalty spot to keep up his streak of scoring in every game since the World Cup.

Rashford, who won the game's MVP award, said his recent goal-scoring performance was on par with his best periods in his career. The English forward said that the team's trophy drought, which dates back to 2017, was driving the players crazy.

“We want to be in finals and the biggest games,” he said. “Ultimately, we want to win silverware and a trophy. Hopefully this season we will get the opportunity to do that.”

In Erik ten Hag's first season as manager, the Red Devils, who most recently won one of their 12 FA Cups in 2016, are in fourth place in the Premier League and have advanced to the League Cup quarterfinals.

The outstanding Rashford drove down the left and into the penalty area before sending the ball across the box into the path of the quickly approaching Antony, giving the in-form team the lead.

Everton appeared to be in for a difficult evening, but inexplicably in the 14th minute, they were tied. Neal Maupay received the ball from Amadou Onana at the edge of the box and sent a low cross.

Coady had the easiest of goals, which changed the tone of the game. De Gea had the opportunity to use his hands, but the ball somehow slipped through his knees as he held to the near post with one hand.

After the break, Ten Hag urged the United supporters to pump up the volume, and they quickly regained the lead with Rashford once more playing a critical part.

The English attacker surged into the Everton area from the left, outrunning Seamus Coleman, and sent in a cross that Coady tipped into his own goal.

Fans mocked Lampard with cries of "you're getting sacked in the morning," and United kept looking for openings.
