Kanini Kega, an East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) Member, was gazetted as the next Jubilee Party Secretary General on Wednesday, July 12, by Anne Nderitu taking Jeremiah Kioni's place.
Nderitu also gazetted the following changes to the Jubilee Party: Eldas MP Adan Keynan will replace David Murathe as National Chairperson, Kitui South MP Rachel Nyamai will serve as the new National Treasurer, and Isiolo Woman Representative Mumina Bonaya will serve as the National Chairperson of the Women League.
Fatuma Dullo, Isiolo Senator, will serve as the Senate leader, Joseph Githuku Kamau Lamu Senator will serve as the Senate Chief Whip, Samuel Arama, a member of parliament (MP) from Nakuru Town West, will oversee party business in the National Assembly, and Sabina Chege, a nominee, will serve as the party leader.
The Registrar also gazetted Senator Margaret Kamar, Representative Jerusha Momanyi of Nyamira County, and Bahati MP Irene Njoki to serve on the Jubilee Party's National Executive Committee (NEC).
Nderitu urged anyone opposed to the changes to the Jubilee leadership to submit a written statement to the Registrar of Political Parties within seven days.
“Any person with written submissions concerning the intended changes by the political party shall within seven (7) days from the date herein, deposit them with the Registrar of Political Parties,” the notice read in part.
The seven-day timeframe gives the Uhuru Kenyatta- and Kioni-led faction one final opportunity to retake control of the erstwhile ruling party before the changes become official.
