Keeping your mind sharp and focused is the best thing you can do for yourself as an individual. However, this has proven to be a daunting task in this modern-day society with the multiple sources of distraction and the fast-paced society that we live in.

We are constantly engaged with activities that require maximum attention and engagement of our minds. As much as these activities can be important for our livelihoods, it is also important not to forget that our minds are just like machines and they require not only rest but also repair.

So how exactly do we work on repairing our minds? In our lines of work/school/duties, we might interact with various sources of information that can be detrimental to our psychological health. We might find ourselves collecting a negative trail of thoughts that can equally translate to negative habits in life. Habits that slow down our progress in our line of work.

Just like a computer, we must take time off to refresh our minds and to also rid ourselves of negative thoughts. Most of these thoughts also include certain beliefs about ourselves.

At the core of every human being, lies a seed of greatness. It is up to an individual to realize this greatness but that can only be achieved if we have a healthy mind frame and a positive one.

With all the distractions that have come with technology, it is even hard to maintain a positive mind frame. Everywhere we look, there is always something that will make us worry or un-stabilized.

Taking a technology fast can be a good starting point. Giving yourself a few days where you sit down quietly and listen to your mind without feeding it a pile of information can help you analyze your thoughts carefully.

Meditation can also come in handy when trying to maintain a healthy mind frame. You can do breathing exercises every morning before attending your daily duties and in the evening when you come back.

Affirming yourself positively is another way. There is a famous exercise where you take a piece of paper, write everything you love about yourself. Flip the same piece of paper and on the back write everything that you don’t like about yourself, this can be habits that slow you down. Then constantly work on those negative things to be things that you love about yourself.

Writing positive affirmations for yourself is putting down exactly how you want to feel that day/week/month, and work towards feeling that way.

Remember that power to change yourself only lies within. Power to change our mind and live a healthy lifestyle for ourselves is bestowed upon us by God. And never forget that a win for you is a win for the world.
