Education CS Professor George Magoha has further pushed the opening date from Monday, August 15, 2022, to Thursday, August 18, 2022.

“I hereby convey the Government’s decision on the suspension of the re-opening of all Basic Education institutions with effect from Monday, August 15, 2022, until Thursday, August 18, 2022,” Magoha said.

“We have however been informed that the process of tallying ballots may still be ongoing on the aforementioned date. Therefore, following further consultations, I hereby convey the government’s decision that Basic Education institutions will reopen from Monday, August 15,” Magoha added.

Magoha apologized for the inconvenience his decision might have caused parents, explaining his move was to ensure the safety of pupils.

“I know that people are very unhappy that the schools were closed abruptly. Let me apologize on behalf of the government. So the small pain that I’ve caused, I take full responsibility,” the CS said.
