Liverpool’s forward Luis Diaz ruled out until after the World Cup.

Liverpool’s Luis Diaz is expected to be sidelined until December. This is after the 25-year-old Colombian sustained a knee injury in Sunday’s 3-2 defeat to Arsenal. Luis Diaz underwent a scan on Monday and medics confirmed he does not require surgery. However, the twenty-five-year-old is expected to be out of action until after the Qatar World Cup. Liverpool is still yet to play ten matches before the great clubs of England break for the tournament on November 13, 2022.

Luis Diaz has so far been one of Liverpool’s better performers in a disappointing start of the season. He left the Emirates Stadium on crutches wearing a knee brace having limped off shortly before the half time after Arsenal’s midfielder Thomas Partey landed on his knee. The twenty-five-year-old Colombian has scored three goals in eight Premier League appearances for tenth-placed Liverpool. Additionally, he has scored one goal and made an assist in three Champions League games for Liverpool this season. Diaz has been one of the few bright spots for Liverpool’s coach Jurgen Klopp.

The bad news does not stop there for Liverpool. Alexander-Arnold was taken off with an ankle injury sustained after he was stomped on by Gabriel Martinelli as the Arsenal forward delivered a cross from the left-hand side of the box. That was the first of two injury blows for Liverpool. Liverpool is still awaiting further information on his problem but he will almost certainly miss the upcoming Liverpool games.

“He twisted the ankle, not good. Trent never, in seven years, went off if he could have played on. He was in too much pain, it started swelling immediately, so we will have to see.” Liverpool’s coach Jurgen Klopp said.

It is anticipated that a further examination will take place on Tuesday when the full extent and more details will be known. Liverpool is already fourteen points off league away from leading Arsenal, while they face reigning champions Man City at Anfield on Sunday.
