Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) officials in Tharaka constituency have urged President-elect William Ruto to appoint former KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion as Cabinet Secretary.
Speaking on Wednesday in Marimanti town, the officials led by their secretary Ndia Gwatia, said Sossion has vast knowledge in the education sector.
They believe Sossion’s vast experience both as a teacher and leader, can be instrumental in steering the education sector to greater heights.
Sossion, however, is yet to speak about this recommendation.
The former ODM nominated MP decamped to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) camp in October 2021.
At the time, Mr. Sossion said President-elect William Ruto was best placed to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta as the fifth President in a race that will pit him against ODM party leader and Azimio flagbearer Raila Odinga.
Sossion also praised William Ruto’s manifesto in which he elaborates the policies that informed his much-touted bottom-up economic model, saying it would improve the lives of millions of Kenyans.
Mr. Sossion lost in the UDA primaries to Nairobi lawyer Hillary Sigei for the Bomet senate seat race.
