Kwenya Thuku is a happy man after the  High Court Judge Justice James Wakiaga dismissed Kwenya's rival Chege Njoroge's petition to challenge his re-election in the 2022 General Election, which was held on August 9th.

The Nyahururu court dismissed the petition, citing  lack of evidence lodged against the MP, and ordered the petitioner to pay Kshs 2.5 million.

In his ruling, Justice Wakiaga stated that the petitioners' evidence failed to persuade the court that there were widespread electoral malpractices, including voter bribery, and that evidence by witnesses could not be corroborated, implying that the petition lacked merit.

Speaking outside the courthouse, Kwenya praised the Court for issuing an informed ruling, adding that he was now ready to serve the Kinangop people with diligence.

Though he said the court petition had derailed his agenda for some months, he was ready to now focus on his pre-election pledges to the people of Kinangop.

Kwenya Thuku, who was elected on a Jubilee Party ticket, was declared the winner of the August 9th general election after receiving 39,338, the petitioner Amos Chege Njoroge of the UDA, garnered 34,842 votes.

The MP affirmed that he was ready to work with the Kenya Kwanza government under the leadership of President William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua.

He said no leader can afford to work alone and without the government and realize meaningful achievements

Residents have praised the court ruling saying it's now time to deliver services to the electorate.
