Nearly two weeks after the bizarre murder of the primary school head teacher Ezekiel Nkeere Gitangwa who went missing in Nyamira on December 30, 2022, the main suspect in the case is still at large.
The Nurse is reported to be hiding in one of the towns in the country with those close to her suspecting that she might be looking for a route to escape to countries such as Tanzania, Zambia or Botswana where she lived for a year.
Police indicate that the suspect has been swapping her phone numbers to avoid being detected by the police with rumours of help from inside the police force surrounding the case.
Gitangwa's badly mutilated body was found in the house of the said 33-year-old Nyamaiya Health Centre nurse who is the main suspect in the brutal killing. His hands and legs had been amputated and placed next to his body.
According to a police report, Gitangwa was dropped by a Boda Boda rider at Egesieri village along the Nyamira Miruka Highway on the same day. They indicated that intelligence led the process to the house of a nurse within Nyamira town where the body was discovered wrapped in a carpet.
Gitangwa was killed days after receiving a ksh 2.8 million loan from a financial institution popular with teachers.
It later emerged that the nurse had loaned him 3 million shillings which the deceased owed her.
At the time of his death, Gitangwa had not committed to settling the debt.
