Is Kasarani evolving into Nairobi's next mass grave? Only a few weeks have passed since Jeff Mwathi's mysterious death, and already the neighbourhood has been rocked by another murder.
The victim, female pastor Elizabeth Githingi, was brutally murdered, and her assailant went to great lengths to make it appear that she had committed suicide. However, how did this tragedy start?
Look Up Digital tries to break the chronological flow of events down to find the exact truth behind the murder of pastor Elizabeth Githingi.
It appears that Elizabeth and Kikuyu gospel singer Dishon Mirugi had a relationship at the beginning of the tale. They were said to be deeply in love, with Elizabeth devoting her entire emotional and material support to the union. Even going ahead and building her lover a music studio.
Elizabeth left Nakuru on March 18th to visit Dishon at his residence in Kahawa West. But not long after she arrived, Dishon's house staff discovered her dead body hanging from a wardrobe.
In a statement, the singer claimed to have been out running errands when he returned home to find his lover had died by suicide.
But as the investigation went on, it became obvious that Dishon's account was false. When DCI homicide investigators took over the investigation, they found that Elizabeth had claimed in a text message to her sister that Dishon had threatened to kill her.
Even worse, she twice reported him to the police for endangering her life.
It turned out that on the day of her passing, Elizabeth had gone to Dishon's house to inquire about the 400,000 shillings she had given him. However, it appears that the cash she had gone to pick up would be the reason for her untimely passing.
The fact that Dishon was transporting Elizabeth's body from one police station to another because no one was willing to take charge of the investigation made the situation even stranger.
