According to the 2022 nations ranking given by the World Athletics, Kenyan male runners put up a fantastic performance in international competitions in the just finished season. With 46 points, the East African athletic powerhouse was ranked second, 18 points ahead of Great Britain in third. The United States, which is hosting the World Athletics Championships, finished first on the log with an astounding 118 points.
However, despite giving Kenya some trouble in Oregon, Ethiopia, Kenya's arch-rival, settled for fifth place, behind Canada and Jamaica. Because they earned the same number of points (20) as their East African rivals, Ethiopia, Uganda was also rated fifth in the log. The only other country from Africa to make the top 10 was South Africa, which came in at number 10. A medal at the World Athletics Championship went to Kenya thanks in part to the runners Emmanuel Korir, Stanley Waithaka Mburu, and Ferdinand Omurwa Omanyala.
Ethiopia placed higher than fourth-placed Kenya in the women's division. With 75 points, Jamaica barely edged out the United States for first place. With 74 and 60 points, respectively, the latter and Ethiopia accepted second and third place. Kenyan female athletes finished fourth alongside Great Britain with a total season score of 39. Except for Faith Kipyegon Chepngetich, female athletes Mary Moraa, Beatrice Chebet, and Judith Korir all had below-average performances in 2022.
