The Commonwealth 100m winner, Ferdinand Omanyala has promised to win the Rabat Diamond League on May 28th.
The fastest man in Africa will compete with an experienced cast alongside him, with the likes of World Champion Fred Kerley of USA, Olympic winner Marcell Jacobs of Italy and Travyon Bromell World Bronze medalist.
Other competitors are Yohan Blake from Jamaica, Andre De Grasse from Canada and many more.
Omanyala has promised to beat them all and insists that he is already in form. "I have beaten all of them last year and this being my second Diamond League; I am going for a win and nothing less. I am determined to get the victory,” said Omanyala.
On Saturday, Omanyala won his 100m race in the Kip Keino Classic title. at Moi International Sports Center, Kasarani.
“I am in the best form, the form of my life and I’m not losing any 100m race this year. The main thing is to control every 100m race I will be involved in this year" the Kenyan athlete added.
He is also hopeful that he may also win the World Championship in August in Budapest, Hungary.
Chebet is also eyeing the podium in Budapest. The World Cross Champion Beatrice Chebet also participated in the Kip Keino Classic, winning 5000 meters women’s race.
“My target is to be on the podium. I know everyone wants gold, but the most important thing for me is to be on the podium, and I believe with hard work I will be there,” said Chebet
“This is my first track event since the cross country. I wanted to come and start my season at the Kip Keino classic to gauge myself and see where to improve and find a way to rectify mistakes,” added Chebet.
Her win in the Kip Keino Classic is her third win following victories at the San Vittore Cross Country Tour Italy and the World Cross Country Championship in Bathurst, Australia and she will look to add a fourth win in Budapest this August.
The runner's form isn’t back yet but it is improving daily, "My form is not back ahead of the championship, and the more I trained, the better for the way my body is responding well" the athlete said after her win on Saturday at Kasarani.
The 23-year-old is looking to continue her success in Budapest, Hungary this August.
