Kenya Para Athletics to Battle for the Paralympic Qualifiers Games in Paris

The Kenya Para Athletics are set to battle in the Italian grand Prix championship that is scheduled for May. The battle will act as the Paralympic qualifiers for the 2024 games in Paris.

Kenya has a total of 24 medals generally and was ranked the fifth in the world, at the Marrakech 2023 World Para Athletics Grand Prix which is the 7th international Para meeting.

Kenya proudly walked away with eight gold, seven silver and nine bronze medals during the event in Morocco. The hosts managed to top the standings after conquering a total of 16 golds ,13 silver and 10 bronze where their strength came in after three of their four Tokyo gold medals in 2020.

France made the top 3 nations after winning nine gold, eight silver and three bronze. Morocco’s opponent Tunisia, came in second with nine golds, four bronze and countless silver medals. The French contingent that includes their 21-member team was able to stand out from the rest of the pack, after an epic work in Marrakech.

Other countries including China, Brazil, Nigeria and Senegal came in fourth, sixth, seventh and eighth consecutively. Elizabeth Rodrigues Gomes from Brazil successfully took home the gold medal after battling at the women’s discus throw to a 6.51m, back in Tokyo. In addition, Cheerier Nwachuku from Nigeria also managed to set a new world record in the women's discuss.

The World Championship and Paralympic games are set for Paris ,France which is scheduled to take place in the next 18 months.
