Kenya National Examinations Council, KNEC has dismissed allegations of 2022 KCSE leakage. Speaking on 18th May at Pride Inn Paradise Hotel in Mombasa KNEC CEO, David Njeng’ere told the National Assembly Education Committee chaired by Tinderet MP Julius Melly that exam papers on sale are normally circulated by fraudsters and not KNEC officers.
Njeng’ere added that it was impossible for one to access National Examinations before time and even challenged the National Assembly Education Committee to get exam papers that are already circulating on social media sites and compare them to the actual exam papers which will be released in November.
For the allegations that school principals had details of how practical exams would be done, David Njeng’ere defended the council saying KNEC usually sends instructions earlier to enable school principals prepare solutions or specimens that are required during the practical exams.
Meanwhile Education CS Ezekiel Machogu dismissed claims that 2022 KCSE candidates will have to sit for an entry exam before transiting to the tertiary level.
CS Machogu and PS Belio Kipsang have said that some of the reforms by the ministry to the council are yet to be put into practice. For instance, the KNEC act of 2012 where exam papers are supposed to be stored in police custody but they are now placed in exam containers.
