Kenya- Eritrea Reach VISA-Free Agreement

President William Ruto has today held bilateral talks with Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki at State House Nairobi.

On Wednesday, February 9, the two heads of State discussed potential structural collaborations in Trade and investments.

“We must have a regime that is free of barriers to further integration, strengthen connectivity and enhance regional trade,” said President Ruto.

Kenya- Eritrea has reached an agreement in scrapping VISA requirements for their citizens.

President Ruto stated that the move would go a long way in catalyzing economic transformation.

“We have agreed to abolish the requirement of Visas permanently, effective today. In this regard, we have instructed our ministries of the interior to work on the modalities for the ratification of this directive," he said.

Ruto also pointed out the potential readmission of Eritrea to The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), an organization that unites countries in Horn Africa.

Kenya-Eritrea are committed to taking measures that facilitate the Economy, Social and cultural relations.
