KBL aims to achieve economic development and safeguard the country in the face of climate change.

With the adverse climate change, the agricultural sector has stagnated in recent years in terms of productivity. Beverage company KBL has come up with a training project for the farmers to improve on farming techniques.

The company will also equip small-scale farmers with the means to successfully build a profitable enterprise while ensuring the better-quality products reach their markets.

“As a ministry, part of our mandate is to create an enabling environment for agricultural development, enhance national food security, and improve market access and trade. We are committed to providing adequate and affordable working capital to farmers and deploying modern agricultural risk management instruments that ensure farming is profitable and income is predictable, “said Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Linturi.

The training will help many farmers to improve on the quality of their products and increase their production which will help to relieve the country from hunger, and under nutrition and improve the status of the economy.

According to data from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) data shows that agriculture contributes 33 per cent of the country’s total GDP, making it an essential part of Kenya’s economy. The agriculture sector employs more than 40 percent of the total population here in Kenya.

The key area for agricultural transformation is the adoption of modern technologies, as farmers may not use such technologies even if they are available. Many technologies such as high-yielding seeds require stringent conditions for water, inputs, and know-how therefore KBL's attempt could be impactful on farmers.
