The Kenya Under 17 women’s soccer team, Junior Starlets, beat Burundi 2-0 {5-0} on aggregate to qualify for the first time for the FIFA Under 17 women’s World Cup.

The game started well with Kenya leading 3-0 after the first leg match at Burundi and had a chance to take the lead shortly after the kickoff when Lorna Faith's long-range attempt went just inches wide.

Junior Starlets took the lead thanks to a goal after 17 minutes from exceptional player Marion Serenge, who took advantage of a defensive blunder in Burundi's goalmouth.

Burundi seemed unfocused and were unable to match Kenya's hunger for more goals. They did give up a second goal, though, as Valerie Nekesa beat her defender to tuck the ball past Solange Manirakiza as she advanced.

To secure their spot in the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup, which will take place in the Dominican Republic from October 16 to November 3, Starlets managed to maintain their lead.

Kenya, Zambia, and Nigeria will compete for CAF in the eighth FIFA U17 World Cup. Kenya is one of four nations, including hosts Poland, Ecuador, and the Dominican Republic, making their debut at the main event.
