Defending champions Kabras will be seeking to defend the Kenya Cup title as they face the log leaders KCB RFC in a clash that will kick off at Ruaraka Sports Club on Saturday.
Emmanuel Silungi of KCB who plays as a lock and his counterpart David Nyambua of Kabras will be key players to determine the match scores.
Despite the main concentration being on scrum halves and fullbacks in deciding the match, Silungi and Nyambua will be of big importance to both in terms of ball delivery.
Silungi, who is 23 years old, has been impactful to the Bankers since he joined the side in December from Homeboyz.
The former student at Jomo Kenyatta of Agriculture and Technology, has also played for Chipu, that is Kenya’s under 20 years’ rugby team and he also featured for Kenya Simba side. Moreover, he is a very consistent player.
The 23-year-old played for the senior team in the 2019/20 season and will be a key player once more in today’s match according to KCB coach Curtis Alago.
“Silungi has been an incredible player, with consistency since he joined the team. And today he will be one of the key players in today’s match”. Says coach Curtis Olego.
Nyambua on the other side, will be having a huge task as his team will be facing the Bankers. The last time Kabras won against KCB at Ruaraka Sports Club was the 2019/20 season and that was the first time as well.
The 34-year-old played his first match for Kabras in the second leg this year. He also played for Kenya Simba’s for 2023 Rugby World Cup final qualification in France last year in November. He has played five matches for Kabras so far.
In the current log standing KCB RFC are at the top with 45 points and nine bonus points of victory while Kabras are at the second place with 44 points with eight match bonuses.
