A suspect allegedly involved in the demise of a 19-year-old girl in Kasarani has been placed in police custody for 14 days awaiting investigations to be concluded.
The decision was reached following the prosecution's request to the Makadara Law Courts, for an extension of time to conclude the murder investigations.
Lawrence Gitonga, the prime suspect in the brutal murder, was arrested on March 2nd after seeking treatment for stab wounds whose origin remains unknown.
The residential area caretaker of the White House Apartment reported discovering the lifeless body of Juanta Mbulwa Nzomo near the said apartment and promptly contacted the police for their intervention.
Upon the arrival of the police at the scene, in addition to discovering the lifeless body of the girl, they also found the suspect lying in a pool of blood at the apartment room with multiple stab wounds.
Subsequently, he was transported to Uhai Neema Hospital for initial medical assistance before being referred to Kenyatta National Hospital for further treatment.
It is evident that Lawrence Gitonga and Juanta Nzomo knew each other as they were captured in CCTV footage on their final moments, as they checked into the apartment at 3:00 am.
