Joseph Irungu, also known as Jowie, has been handed a death sentence following his conviction for the 2018 murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani.
High Court judge Grace Nzioka, delivering the verdict on Wednesday, declared that Monica Kimani's murder was "intentional."
"It was not a defensive act. It was not provoked. It was premeditated, deliberate, and carried out," stated Justice Nzioka.
Jowie was found guilty last month of the murder of Monica Kimani, who was brutally killed in her Lamuria Gardens apartment in Nairobi on the night of September 19, 2018.
Justice Nzioka concluded that the prosecution presented ample evidence to establish Jowie's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
