A seasoned journalist working with Standard Media Group has called it quits after 15 years at the Mombasa Road-based media house.
Sources reveal that the journalist Frank Otieno had tendered his resignation and served notice that would see him exit in February 2023.
Otieno’s time in the media space and Standard Media Group saw him hold different positions, starting from the bottom and rising to the top of the ladder.
Otieno transitioned from teaching to media, where he kicked off his career as a reporter and became a senior reporter. Otieno then was Bureau chief In Kisumu, editor of the Swahili desk, and later promoted to manager NIE program.
He pioneered the Dau la Elimu program on KTN News that focused on education matters, bringing together all education stakeholders.
His exit from the Media house comes at a time when there have been reports that the media house is facing financial insolvency. Standard Media late last year announced that it will have to cut costs and let some of its talents go.
Frank Otieno joins news anchor Sharon Momanyi, Dr. Mercy Korir, and Foreign Affairs editor Lilian Odera who also left the company at the tail end of 2022.
