Six political parties on 14th March 2023 shelved their ambitions to merge with the ruling party of United Democratic Alliance UDA party by president Willaim ruto .
Speaking during a sign-off event at the UDA headquarters in Nairobi, UDA's Secretary General Cleophus Malala saaid, the party leaders assured them of goodies out of their new partnership.
"From today, the parties presented here are no longer partners but part of the uda family. they will participate in all our UDA activities including the ongoing membership registration drive and the upcoming party grassroots elections come august. said Malala.
The parties include:
1.Umoja na maendeleo party led by former embu governor martin wambora .
2. Farmers party led by Irungu nyakera
3. Chama cha kazi : formerly led by Moses kuria
4. Chama cha mashinani led by Mohamed guleid.
5. National agenda party of kenya led by Alfayo agufana.
6. Economic freedom party led by Issack hassan abey.
This amidst claims from the opposition leaders accusing president William Ruto of leading the country to a one-party state by wooing other political parties to merge with his UDA party.
While addressing the nation on 12th March 2023 Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua disputed the claims stating that the government is willing to work with every leader who is willing to join the ruling party
