Jail Them - Kenyan Law Maker On LGBTQ Members

Kenyan Member of parliament Mohammed Ali has weighed into the ongoing national discussion concerning the LGBTQ community in Kenya siting that the members of the group should be jailed.

In a tweet sent out on Tuesday, 10 January seen by Look Up Digital, the Nyali lawmaker said that there should be no discussion around LGBTQ and that it is illegal and not likable by God.

The tweet read “Let us not waste time discussing LQBTQ or whatever name they call it. It’s illegal, God doesn’t like it and we should not entertain it. On this one Democracy my foot! Jail them.”

The contentious death of notable Kenyan advocate for LGBTQ rights Edwin Kiprotich Kiptoo, also known as Chiloba, who was allegedly murdered by his roommate Jacktone Odhiambo, with whom he is rumored to have had an intimate relationship, served as the catalyst for the discussion.

In response to the terrible event that happened in Uasin Gishu County, MP Mohammed Ali strongly criticized the LGBTQ community.

The former journalist invoked religion to describe the conversation as a "waste of time" and the gathering as "illegal."

Chiloba was on Friday, 6 January 2022, found murdered and his body was stuffed in a metal box that was dumped at Kipkaren on the outskirts of Eldoret Town, Uasin Gishu County.
