Arsenal scored the first goal of the match in the 8th minute through Gabriel Martinelli after a poor defense from Virgil Van Dijk kept the league leaders upfront.

In the twentieth minute Martinelli again made a spectacular cross in Liverpool's eighteen yards where the Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus, converted with a header to beat Allison Becker, strengthening the Gunners score.

However, the Egyptian king Mohammed Salah scored a goal that revived the hopes for a comeback before the half time whistle. Arsenal defense went for a sleep after scoring the two goals therefore leaving Liverpool players to make passes in their box scoring their first goal of the game.

Liverpool had an opportunity to level up the score in the fifty fourth minute after they got a penalty, which Mo’ Salah hit out of the goal. Arsenal’s center back Rob Holding played rough to the Red’s forward Diego Jota within Arsenal’s box, center referee Paul Tierney had no option other than rewarding the hosts a penalty.

The Reds of Anfield had their fans behind them at home, where they continued to press the visitor’s more so in the second half making gaps in Arsenal’s defense hence making a score on target in injury time.

Liverpool’s wing back Trent Alexander Arnold dribbled on the right wing past Arsenal’s left-back Oleksandra Zinchenko to make a long cross that was pinpointed by Roberto Firmino to make a comeback for the nineteen times league champions.
