Iran Carries Its Second Execution

A court after discovering that Majidreza had fatally killed two Basij Resistance Force paramilitaries, a judge found him guilty of the charge of "enmity against God."

The judiciary reported that Majidreza Rahnavard was hung "in public" early on Monday in Mashhad.

"Rahnavard was sentenced to death based on coerced confessions, after a grossly unfair process and a show trial. This crime must be met with serious consequences for the Islamic Republic," tweeted Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, director of Norway-based Iran Human Rights.

Human rights organizations have expressed concern that protestors are receiving death sentences following phoney trials that lack due process.

"Thousands of detained protesters, and a dozen death sentences already issued. There is a serious risk of mass execution of protesters," he added.

The first execution in connection with the triggered International condemnation.

The protests were described by Iran's authorities as "riots" started by the nation's adversaries outside. The vast majority of demonstrators, meanwhile have been nonviolent and unarmed.
