President William Ruto during his meeting with more than 30 Jubilee party elected MPs at the Statehouse on Wednesday 8th February, asked the legislators to join him stating that the MPs are henceforth members of the Kenya Kwanza administration.
"You have a right to make choices as Kenya is a democratic country. You are now our members and we will treat you as such," the president said.
On their part, the Jubilee MPs agreed with the president stating that they are back home, noting that they are now reading from the same script as President William Ruto.
One of the key duties MPs have been given by the head of state is to support and push for government bills at the national assembly.
"We will be seeking your support on bills and regulations on the housing fund, and water purchasing agreements, among others," president ruto said.
The new agreements come in the midst of house rivalry in the Azimio coalition following frequent meetings between Azimio-allied MPs and the president.
The Azimio party leadership is expected to meet all its MPs on the 9th of February 2023 to deliberate on the matter.
