Azimio La Umoja Coalition comes forth to clarify misleading reports that suggest the coalition had officially endorsed Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka as their presidential candidate for the 2027 General Elections.

Raila Odinga cited it is way too early to announce a presidential candidate for the upcoming presidential election and further emphasized his commitment to staying actively engaged in national politics through 2027.

In a statement, Raila affirms that his praises of Kalonzo Musyoka for his unwavering support in three consecutive elections were based on past achievements and not intended as an endorsement of him as the presidential candidate for 2027.

He also emphasized that every leader under Azimio La Umoja Coalition has an equal opportunity to emerge as the presidential candidate, and that he or she will be named a year or just months to the 2027 presidential election.

However, the Former Prime Minister expresses his confidence in Kalonzo Musyoka stating that he has what it takes to secure victory in a genuinely fair and open presidential competition.

“Mr. Odinga however believes that Mr. Musyoka has what it takes to beat Hon. William Ruto in a free and fair presidential contest, contrary to Mr. Ruto's recent claim that he would easily beat the Wiper leader,” the statement read.

Furthermore, Odinga reassures Kenyans and Azimio La Umoja One Coalition of his continued active involvement in the political party and national politics.

“Mr Odinga further assures Azimio supporters and the country that he plans to remain very active in party and national politics all the way to 2027.”
