Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has now revealed the reason for denying the Kenya Kwanza alliance permission to hold their meeting at Bukhungu Stadium last weekend.
Kenya Kwanza coalition led by Ruto wanted to gather at the Bukhungu stadium but they were denied permission after being told that the stadium was being cleaned.
Speaking on Wednesday at the stadium where Raila held his campaign rally, Oparanya said he closed the stadium from being used by Kenya Kwanza because they did not pay the usage fee, contrary to their words that they paid the county leadership about Kshs. 900,000.
“Mnajua wale jamaa walikuja nikafunga hii stadium. Nikakataa hawaingii. Nikawaambia waende hakuna kitu cha bure. Walinitusi lakini nikajua matusi yao hakuna mahali inaenda,” Oparanya said. (You know those people (Kenya Kwanza) came but I closed this stadium and barred them from holding their rally. I told them to go away, it can’t be used without pay. They insulted me but I knew it won’t change anything.)
As campaigns come to an end, politicians in various alliances and factions are increasingly popularizing their policies to the people as they are expected to hold their final campaigns this weekend.
Azimio la Umoja One Kenya alliance has already announced their plans to gather at the Moi Kasarani stadium in Nairobi.
Kenya Kwanza, on the other hand, is at a crossroads after claiming that despite finalizing everything to hold their rally at Nyayo stadium, they have been denied permission. However, the coalition’s flagbearers still insist they will hold their final rally at Nyayo.
