Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has been summoned over the green park terminus a directive that he disobeyed. The High Court is set to handle the case.
The governor will have to defend his actions in court after defying a ruling that barred the relocation of matatus to the Green Park Terminus.
The Green Park bus terminus opened officially on December 1 for long-distance PSVs and has since been made the top of Nairobi’s internet list.
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja said the new bus terminus is part of measures to decongest the CBD.
Other initiatives to relieve congestion in the CBD were also announced by Mr Sakaja, including a ban on using unauthorized vehicles like taxis that pass themselves off as PSVs.
In addition to extending the injunction, the court also halted the county's public notice of the pick-up and drop-off locations' move from the CBD to Green Park.
The directive's implementation was halted by Justice Hedwig Ong'udi, but the county nonetheless carried it out.
Sakaja will have to state reasons in court as to why he defied a ruling that barred the relocation of matatus to the Greenpark Terminus.
