Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja says he has no ill will against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
On Sunday, January 8, 2023, following a church service at PEFA South B, Johnson Sakaja affirmed that there was no conflict between them as it was depicted to the public.
“People are trying to create a tiff between the DP Gachagua and me, especially coming from other Political parties. I do have a lot of respect for all leaders, you will never hear me speak ill about the President and the Deputy President,” he said.
Sakaja stated that he is working closely with the National Government to deliver to the people of Nairobi.
“I have a mandate for the people of Nairobi and I took an oath to serve the people of Nairobi and that is the mandate that is sacred to us,” he added.
Nairobi Governor Sakaja and Deputy President Gachagua were said to be at odds over their opposing views on decongesting Nairobi's Central Business District.
Sakaja declared in December 2022 that long-distance Matatus will be relocated from the CBD to Green Park Terminus.
However, the DP claims that Sakaja should have contacted him before making decisions that harm the businesses of Mt Kenya residents who voted for him.
