The government has declared a nationwide crackdown on the sale of illicit drugs.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof Kithure Kindiki said the state has laid a strategy that will ensure it has saved youths from its dangers.
Kindiki noted that President William Ruto's government will not fear anyone until it eradicates the source of illicit brews, bhang and drugs.
He said the war on illicit brews and drug abuse was categorized as cattle rustling, terrorism and banditry.
He urged elected leaders to support the government in the new war on illicit brews, saying that Ruto had declared that even though he lost his seat, he would still continue fighting.
He noted that the Central region is heavily affected.
The CS said those elected leaders who will not support the war in fear of losing supporters, can stay away since they will not stop.
He spoke in Kiambaa constituency when he opened the area assistant county commissioner.
He was accompanied by Kiambaa MP John Njuguna and Kiambu governor Kimani Wamatangi among other leaders.
Both Wamatangi and Njuguna said they would support the war, saying it has left so many young families crying due to drug abuse’s effects.
Moreover, the CS warned illegal immigrants that they will be repatriated back to their country.
