Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has today commenced the postmortem examination of bodies recovered from Shakahola Forest.

Speaking to the press, on Monday May 1,2023, the Cabinet Secretary noted that the process will take roughly a week to get the post-mortem results of the 110 bodies exhumed.

The Government seemingly appears intentional in its efforts to get to the bottom of this saga.

“The Government will do everything possible to find out who, why, and how a large number of Kenyans met their deaths in such a cruel and inhumane manner, and any person along the path of accountability will have a date with destiny,” CS Kindiki stated.

The CS has asserted that any public official whose remissness could have resulted in the deaths of individuals thought to be followers of controversial pastor Paul Mackenzie will be held accountable.

He further urged Kenyans to stay calm as the Commission of Inquiry carries out the investigations to weed out people responsible for the deaths of the victims.

“The commission of inquiry will investigate and make recommendations on action to be taken against any public officer whose inaction, failure, or outright negligence could have caused the deaths that have been reported,” he stated.

The Government Chief Pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor is set to be conducting the postmortem examination.
