Ghanaian footballer Christian Astu Rescued from Rubble after Turkey Earthquake

International Ghanaian footballer   Christian Astu found alive and has now been rescued from the rubble and transported to the hospital after suffering injuries to his right foot and suffering from difficult breathing difficulties.

Former Chelsea and Malaga player was reportedly trapped under rubble following the earthquake which hit Turkey and Syria on Monday.

Christian Astu who plays for Hatayspor in Turkey and two of his teammates have also been rescued.

Ghana President Nana Akufo- Addo joined many Ghanaians to pray for the safety of Christian Atsu.

“ On behalf of the government and people of Ghana, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Turkey and Syria on the devastation and tragic loss of lives in Monday's earthquake. May their souls rest in perfect peace," said President Nana.

Ghana Football Association said they were putting their efforts into establishing contact with the Turkish football federation, considering the difficult situation.

The 31 years old attacker played for Chelsea in 2013 but played friendlies for West London club. He has enjoyed a successful career with the Black Stars, having made 65 appearances since his debut in 2012.

He was named player of the tournament at the 2015 Africa cup of Nations, where he scored two goals as Ghana made it to the finals and lost to Ivory Coast on penalties.
