Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has openly declared that he has no desire to be acknowledged as the ‘Kingpin’ of the Mount Kenya region, terming himself as a very busy man.
In his address earlier today, Sunday, November 5, Gachagua contended that the so-called “Kingpinship” role was nonexistent and urged an end to the ongoing debate over who should assume the position.
Gachagua emphasized that he had read the constitution and confirmed the absence of any provision for a "Kingpin" position.
Adding that if anyone aspired to hold such a position, they should continue their pursuit, but for himself, he expressed disinterest.
According to the Deputy President, the effort he put to unify the people of the Mount Kenya region during the intense election season was not for his own benefit but was aimed at rallying support for President William Ruto.
These recent remarks are a result of ongoing deliberations about who, among him and other Mount Kenya leaders, will be the successor to Former President Uhuru Kenyatta as the supreme leader of the vote-rich region.
During a recent interview, the former Mungiki leader, Maina Njenga, revealed that a significant event will be held for the people of Mt Kenya, during which Uhuru Kenyatta will be passing on his leadership role to a new individual.
Maina Njenga encouraged people from all political affiliations to attend, as this event would symbolize a new beginning.
The date has not yet been confirmed as it is still in discussion.
