As Kenyans continue to feel the pinch of the rising cost of fuel, Cabinet Secretaries and Government advisors have been at the forefront of castigating Kenyans for complaining too much. This has caught the attention of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who has sounded a warning to the Rogue officials asking them to be mindful of the pain Kenyans are facing.

In a statement on his X account, The Deputy President openly expressed his disappointment with certain leaders who speak without caution when addressing Kenyans.

“I would like to remind them that although the people of Kenya did not employ them directly, they decisively elected H.E President William Ruto, who in turn appointed them Cabinet Secretaries and Advisors. And hence by virtue of this -they are employed by Kenyans. You Do Not address your employer with arrogance,” Gachagua wrote on his Social Media Platform.

Gachagua emphasized the importance of leaders being sensitive and inspiring hope in the people, pointing towards a brighter future.

He asserted that belittling and demoralizing those who rely on them for solutions and guidance in challenging circumstances is not indicative of effective leadership.

“Responsible leaders should be sensitive and inspire hope to the people-the hope for a better tomorrow. Please do not spite the people of Kenya,” he stated.

Gachagua further insisted that arrogant statements from irresponsible leaders do not represent the official stance of the Government and that the recent Fuel spike is a worldwide challenge.

“The Government remains aware of and is sensitive to the challenges Kenyans are facing today; the arrogant statements by a few leaders do not, in any way, reflect the official Government position or that of President William Ruto,” Gachagua.

The Deputy President has urged Kenyans to brace themselves as things are going to get better as we move along.

This development follows Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria's recent remarks about the challenging times ahead, particularly concerning fuel prices, which he projected to remain high until February of next year.

“I repeat. Petrol will be Sh260 by February. And El Nino is coming in 3 weeks that will last till March. These are global and climate change driven. Responsible leaders ought to tell the truth to prepare the people. You can throw stones at me all you want,” Moses Kuria Stated.
