Borussia Dortmund yesterday night held on to get a 1-0 first leg win over Paris Saint Germain courtesy of a Niclas Fullkrug goal which came in the 36th minute.

Dortmund came into the game as underdogs with PSG boasting of a better head to head record than them. This however did not derail them as they capitalized on home advantage to claim a slender lead in this tie.

Dortmund began brightly in the first 30 minutes with Jadon Sancho looking electric on the night. They got rewarded after a long ball over the top was well controlled by Fullkrug who took a shot to put the ball into PSG’s net.

Marcel Sabitzer had a glorious chance to put Dortmund two head but Donnarumma was on hand to save the half volley from the midfielder.

In the 50th minute, PSG hit the post twice in quick succession after a curling effort from Kylian Mbappe hit the post before Achraf Hakimi hit the post few seconds later after poor defending from Dortmund.

Fullkrug failed to score his second goal of the game after Jadon Sancho dribbled past PSG left back Nuno Mendes and set him up before his shot went over the bar.

The second leg is set to take place next week on Tuesday at the Parc De Princes.
