Pakistan’s Former President Pervez Musharraf dies aged 79.
The four-star general died in Dubai American Hospital after a prolonged illness.
He was suffering from amyloidosis, a rare disease that occurs when an abnormal protein builds up in organs and interferes with normal functions.
The Pakistan military confirmed the death in a statement, expressing "heartfelt condolences on the sad demise of General Pervez Musharraf.
"May Allah bless the departed soul and give strength to the bereaved family," the statement read.
A special flight will be arranged on Monday to bring Pervez Musharraf’s body back to Pakistan for burial.
