The Nairobi Single Mothers Lobby Group led by chairperson Hadija Muhia has come out to address alleged Corruption and Misconduct involving former Nairobi County Minister of Education Muthoni Ouko.
The activists Allege Ouko embezzlement funds meant for bursary during her tenure at the county office amounting to tens of millions of shillings which deprived Nairobi County school-going children of their educational support and freedom and now want the latter investigated.
"We cannot tolerate corruption and misconduct in our Government institutions, especially when it affects the most vulnerable members of our society," Muhia stated.
Muhia has further uncovered disturbing allegations of irregular reappointment and earning as CEC under the Education docket and her subsequent earning irregularities, actions they claim undermine the integrity of government institutions and erode public trust.
"Muthoni Ouko's actions betray the trust of the people of Nairobi and jeopardize the future of our children." added the lobby group leader.
The lobbyists have accused Ouko's recent lawsuit against Governor Sakaja's Dishi Na County program which they claim is ill-motivated and steered by personal gains rather than genuine concern for the welfare of Nairobi's children implicating Ouko at the centre of having been involved in running of Shadowy School Feeding Enterprise herself.
The Muhia-led team has thwarted a recent move by Muthoni Ouko to join Opposition Outfit ODM out of selfish interests.
"We condemn Muthoni Ouko's recent affiliation with the opposition outfit ODM for selfish reasons. This opportunistic move further undermines her credibility and
demonstrates a lack of commitment to ethical leadership." Said Muhia
The Group championing the rights and welfare of single mothers and their children in Nairobi County has called for a thorough investigation into the stated allegations and urged the relevant authorities to hold those culpable accountable for their misdeeds as they assured the organization's commitment to advocating for transparency, accountability, and justice for all single-parent households within Kenya's number one city, Nairobi.
