Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sherrif Nassir has swung into action after residents called on him to fix the drainage system that had been clogged following heavy rains on Friday night.
Business was brought to a standstill in Mombasa as water flooded the city making movement impossible.
A heavy downpour during the weekend resulted in floods in major areas around Mombasa City. Areas like the Kibarani area, Railways Roundabout, CMC route, Kenya Ports Authority (KPA)and Moi Avenue Docks were flooded after heavy rainfall on Friday night.
Kenyans took to social media especially Twitter to share videos and photos of the flooded town and issuing alerts to other residents not to use the said areas.
Hours later the Mombasa disaster management team swung into action and started unclogging the drainage systems that had been clogged causing the heavy floods.
