Men’s Marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge does it again!

The five-time Berlin marathon champion clocked a remarkable time of 2:02:42 to win the 2023 Berlin marathon.

Speaking to the Press after the race, Kipchoge expressed his disappointment with not obliterating his own 2:01:09 world record set during the 2022 Berlin Marathon.

“I was hoping to break the world record but that did not happen,” said Kipchoge.

However, Kipchoge now sets his sights on becoming the first-ever marathoner to win three Gold medals in different Olympics, with the 2024 edition slated for next year in the French capital of Paris.

“I want to take all my experience to the Olympic marathon and try to be on the podium or to win for the third time and make history,” he added.

Kipchoge has now secured back-to-back victories in the Berlin marathon after setting the world record in last year’s edition, his other double coming in the 2017 and 2018 editions

His Kenyan compatriot Vincent Kipkemoi secured second place in his maiden Berlin Marathon race clocking an impressive time of 2:03:13. Kipkemoi managed to outpace Ethiopia's Tadese Takele, who finished third with a time of 2:03:24 seconds.
