Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat is in the country ahead of the friendly match between Kenya and Burundi.
The first Harambee Stars friendly match is set to be played on 25th March. The match is scheduled to be hosted in Nairobi for the first leg.
The return match will be played on 28th March 2023, just three days after the first match. The match is set to be hosted in Bujumbura, Burundi.
However, earlier this month, after his reappointment, Firat was positive that Burundi will challenge Kenya to register positive results in the upcoming competitions.
“It is always important to keep the team together and intact, for better results in the upcoming competitions in the future” Says Firat.
Harambee Stars squad is expected to report on the camp on 17th March 2023, to sharpen their skills ahead of the tough Burundian side.
The Turkish man, Engin Firat first took charge as Harambee Stars manager on October 7th 2021, in a match that Kenya lost 5-0 against Mali in the CAF World Cup qualifier . The loss extended after a 1-0 defeat by Mali in the return match played in Kenya.
The 53 year old was forced to exit from his Star’s managerial role after the former Sports Cabinet Secretary Ambassador. Amina Mohammed disbanded the Football Kenya Federation(FKF) on 11th of November 2021 that led to a ban by FIFA on 24th of February last year.
The ban was lifted after the takeover of Ababu Namwamba as the new Cabinet Secretary for sports, who reinstated the National Executive Committee for the federation. On 28th November 2022 FIFA announced the lifting of the ban.
