Emmanuel Adebayor Retires From Professional Football

Former Real Madrid and Togolese international player Emmanuel Adebayor has announced that he's retiring from professional football.

Adebayor 39 years old, Played his last match for Togo in 2010 when Sparrow Hawks came under gunfire while on their way to the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.

Adebayor also played a key role in his country's football leading to Togo qualifying for the World Cup in Germany in 2006. In 2013 the former Gunners team member made a return to the national team, for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, where he helped them qualify for the quarter finals.

 The Ac Semassi Fc forward's star shot in international football in 1999 when he played for Sporting Club, he then made his debut in league 1 against Sochaux. After Metz`s relegation. Adebayor also played a season in ligue 2 where he scored 13 goals in 34 league matches.

 He then joined English side Arsenal on 13 January 2006 from French side club Monaco where he played for three seasons and managed to score for Gunners 62 goals.

 Emmanuel left Arsenal for Manchester City in what the player said he was being “pushed” away by the Gunners manager Arsene wenger. 

He caused controversy when he celebrated his goal in front of the Gunners supporters after scoring against them at Etihad Stadium.

On 27 January 2011 Adebayor joined Spanish Giants Real Madrid where he played for one season and then returned to the Cityzen before joining North London side Tottenham where he played for four seasons, scoring 18 goals in 17 Premier league.

The Togolese  all-time top scorer with 32 goals left European football and joined Paraguayan club Olimpia in 2020, but his contract came to an end after making four appearances for the club.

This was the first time he played league football in his home country, despite being an all time goal scorer for his national team.
