Ebunangwe Boys’ high school in Vihiga County has been closed for a week following a fire incident that razed down the dormitories burning all the student’s belongings.
Vihiga county leaders led by the member of parliament have said the school will be reopened after a week giving them time to put everything in order to allow the boys to come back and continue with their studies.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established with the damages estimated to be Ks 5,684,890.
The losses assessed include beds, mattresses, blankets, bedsheets, trunks, etc.
The Member of Parliament Amboko Milemba has called for a Harambee on Monday 5th June to help raise funds that will help purchase mattresses for the boys and to repair the destroyed buildings.
The fire broke out on Tuesday night at around 8 P.M with eyewitnesses reporting that, when they heard the alarm and rushed to the school, they found the 2 dormitories already ablaze. The community stepped in to help put the fire out before the arrival of the Vihiga fire brigade minutes after 9 P.M
Following the unfortunate incident, the old boys have come out to contribute towards the purchase of mattresses for the boys as they lost everything in the inferno. Calling on other alumni to channel their contribution to the Ebunangwe High Alumni bank account number as follows:
