The East African Safari Mini Classic is set to kick off Thursday, December 8 in Nakuru and conclude in Eldoret.

A total of 32 local and foreign entrants confirm their participation in the fourth edition of the mini-classic. This year's edition will feature cars manufactured before 1985.

Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL), through its beer brand White Cap, comes on board as a sponsor for the 2022 East African Mini Classic Rally set to take place from December 9 to 11.

A total of nine stages will be run over the three days of the competition with drivers to cover a distance of about 1000 Kilometers traversing the Rift valley.

"We've not been to Eldoret since 2003. There are some classic safari stages that haven't been used around that area since the 90s and the 80s, so I think it's gonna be very very challenging; not necessarily a fast event but a very challenging one." Rally's course clerk Onkar Kalsi said.

Onkar Kalsi, the rally's course clerk, said the Eldoret route will be interesting and challenging for all the drivers, with the classic route having not been used since the launch of the East African Classic Rally in 2003.

He also hinted that the weather would be critical in how the drivers perform.

"I do know that Eldoret weather plays a key role in the Safari and I expect this year to be no different. The rains coming or not coming and the laps of God, if they do come let's say the challenge is going to be tenfold," he added.

The winner will be presented on December 11 after three days of a highly competitive rally.
