Recent reports indicate that the case against Pastor Ezekiel has been closed by a Shanzu court, however, the Office Directorate of Public Prosecution (ODPP) has denied reports that the case against Pastor Ezekiel Odero has been dissolved.
Cliff Ombeta and Dunstan Omari, Pastor Ezekiel's lawyers addressed the press on Tuesday, 31st October, 2023 revealing that Ezekiel is now a free man.
The ODPP, however, released a statement saying that only the custodial file requiring the New Life and Prayer Centre Church to report to the police had been closed.
"Upon receipt of the inquiry files, the ODPP was satisfied that the court orders facilitating investigations had already served their purpose and it was needless for Mr Odero to keep attending court or the police station," the ODPP said.
The ODPP stated that they had acquired the inquiry file for the case against the prominent religious leader and therefore, did not see the need for the accused to attend court or police.
The ODPP also said that when the matter was mentioned in court on Tuesday, 31 October 2023, the court closed the custodial case file.
They are now reviewing the inquiry file to determine whether the accused is guilty of the charges and assured that Pastor Ezekiel will only be charged if there is enough evidence.
